Your cash-exposure schedule

Five events, in order. Amounts count only the figures you enter. Horizontal spacing shows stages, not elapsed time.

  1. You buy the document and bid

The tender fee is spent and the bid security goes in with the bid.

    Tied up after this
    –
    When
The bid deadline in the notice inviting tender.
  2. You win and furnish performance security

Performance security is furnished after award, while the bid security is still with the buyer.

    Tied up after this
    –
    When
The date stated in the tender, counted from notification of award.
  3. Bid security comes back

The winner's bid security returns on receipt of performance security. A bidder who does not win waits for the award instead.

    Tied up after this
    –
    When
On receipt of the performance security, a buyer-side event.
  4. You deliver and retention builds up

A share of running bills is withheld until final acceptance, where the contract requires retention.

    Tied up after this
    –
    When
Across the contract period, bill by bill.
  5. Securities and retention are released

Performance security is released after the contractual obligations end; retention is released at final acceptance. The tender fee does not come back.

    Tied up after this
    –
    When
The tender document sets the release conditions and dates.

Rounded to the rupee. Nothing is stored or sent; your figures disappear when you leave this page.

Where each of these figures comes from

The calculator asks you for the percentages rather than supplying them, because each one is set by a rule, moved by an amendment, and then written into the particular tender. These three pieces carry the bands themselves, the exemptions and the dates, each against its source.

What this does not do

It does not read your tender, judge your bid or tell you whether to submit one. It has no view on whether the figures you typed are the right ones. It only adds them up in the order the events happen.

Only one date on the schedule is arithmetic: the end of the contract period, if you gave a start date. Every other release runs off something the buyer does: the award, the receipt of the performance security, final acceptance. No calculator can date those.

Nothing is stored, nothing is sent and nothing is remembered between visits. There is no box asking who you are, because the answer is yours and not ours.

This is general information; confirm with the tender document and your adviser. Where the tender document and this page differ, the tender document governs: it is the thing you are bidding against.
